Introduction:
Hexarchia is a next-generation war&strategy NFT videogame inspired by chess and the most important civilizations in history. Hexarchia is a desktop game (Windows and Linux) developed with Unreal Engine, the most advanced 3D game engine, and integrated with blockchain technology (https://polygon.technology/) to create a seamless gaming experience.

The game:
In Hexarchia, warlords and emperors wage war in gripping battles all against each other for the rule of Elysium, the mythical world in which the game is set. Two playing modes are available: free-to-play and play-to-win. While users will earn non-fungible tokens (NFTs) playing both modes, the casual free-to-play mode is dedicated to those who simply want to have fun and the competitive play-to-win mode to those who want to earn cryptocurrencies and be part of the community-owned economy which we envision for the future.
In the first release of the video game (the Alpha) there will be three different civilizations that players can choose from to use in the game: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and Medioeval Japan.
Each of these civilizations carry their own story and a reason to be feared:
Japanese warriors have unmatched combat capabilities,they can handle each weapon with mastery and defeat their opponent in a matter of seconds.They are ready to serve you and to be guided to an overwhelming victory!
Egyptians soldiers know how to use dark magic, divine powers and brute strength. They are willing to fight and follow you even to the afterlife for your glory. Players will be able to take control of them to win glorious prizes!
Roman Centurions are so loyal to their emperor they will fight to death until the last enemy is annihilated. They have no mercy and will never refuse a combat. Take control of Roman soldiers to win the most epic battles in history!
Many more free updates will be added in the future, as well as many new civilizations that will make Hexarchia a video game with no expiration date. Players will take control of their army trying to secure a triumphant victory with unprecedented strategy and tactics, all immersed in a simple, clear and epic game system. Just like in chess, no two games will ever be the same in Hexarchia!
In addition, starting from the Beta release, Hexarchia will introduce its innovative customisation system where players will be able to personalize their NFTs exactly as they wish.
Introduction to game rules:
Hexarchia is a simultaneous turn-based war&strategy game offering several battle modes: In the Alpha, the 1vs1 and 3 free-for-all modes will be available. Players will all fight against each other until only one is alive at the end of the fighting.
The goal of the game is very simple: to win it is necessary to eliminate the Warlord of the opposing armies. Hexarchia’s Warlords act much like Kings in chess: if the Warlord dies the player loses. Players must defeat all their opponents, eliminating all the opposing Warlords. Warlords will be Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) minted on Polygon, a Layer-2 solution for Ethereum ensuring high transaction speed and no gas fees. Each civilization has its own Warlords, the first three will be announced very soon. They will be sold in an Initial Item Offering (IIO), the crowdfunding event of Hexarchia.
At the beginning of each game, each player will start with an army of simple troops and a Warlord. The Warlord is the leader of the troops, he/she must always be protected by the rest of the army. Defeat of the Warlord is equivalent to losing the game. Simple troops are undifferentiated, they do not possess unique characteristics but they can be customized according to players’ tastes.
In Hexarchia, the battles between opponents take place on a hexagonal chessboard, divided into many small hexagons. The players will arrange themselves on one of the six sides of the board. Chessboards are the dominant element of Hexarchia’s arenas which are inspired by the most famous epochs of our past.
Each battle will last between 5 and 20 minutes depending on the battle mode. Each battle is divided into rounds which consist of two phases: the strategic phase and the execution phase. During the strategic phase all players will decide their own moves in advance, assigning orders to their troops. You can assign up to 5 orders to your troops per turn. In the execution phase all orders entered in the strategic phase will be automatically executed, without the possibility of modification.
Moving troops is the basic order of every game. Each member of the army, whether it is a “simple” troop or a Warlord, can be moved in 6 directions, one for each side of the hexagon in which it is located. Each member of the army, both simple troops and Warlord, has two predefined statistics: ATTACK and HEALTH. The ATTACK value amounts to the maximum damage your troops can inflict to enemies’ troops. The HEALTH value determines the maximum damage a single troop or Warlord can receive. If the HEALTH of a troop drops to 0, the soldier is eliminated.
Orders to troops and Warlords can be Movements and Power Ups. With Power Ups, troops can be upgraded to make them stronger, more resilient or more balanced..There are 3 types of Power Ups:
-strengthening
-hardening
-balancing.
Strengthening adds +10 points to ATTACK. Hardening adds +10 points to HEALTH. Balancing sums ATTACK and HEALTH points and divides them equally. Each upgrade will consume an order.
The secret to achieving victory lies in choosing your moves correctly and predicting those of your opponents.

The technology:
Hexarchia is one of the very first video games developed on Unreal Engine including NFTs, programmable digital assets on the blockchain. A non-fungible token (NFT) is a set of metadata and files saved on a blockchain which certifies that a digital asset is unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can represent images, videos, audios, and other types of digital files such as in-game assets. NFTs, being created through Smart Contracts, can also be programmable and, being saved on the blockchain, allow to ascertain and prove the ownership of the digital asset.
Thanks to the use of the blockchain, Hexarchia guarantees players the ownership of the characters and equipments that can be used in the game.These characters and items, minted as NFTs, can be freely traded and sold on the Hexarchia marketplace or on third party marketplaces.To ensure players get the right trades, we have decided to carry out most of the transactions on Polygon / Matic, a Layer 2 solution from Ethereum. At the same time, we are working to allow players to be able to swap their NFTs securely on other blockchain protocols. More Hexarchia NFT swap will be revealed at due time.
